Diversity at Channel 4 – Jamie Ward & Damini Onifade

Dr Jamie Ward is currently Head of Learning & Development at Channel 4, having previously held previously similar positions in the BBC, and worked as a consultant for Turner Broadcasting and Sony Pictures Entertainment. He has also held senior interim HR positions in DHL, Carnival UK and the Department of Health on behalf of PA Consulting. He led the inclusion agenda at BBC Studios having instigated the first Inclusion Conference which was game-changing for diverse talent on and off-screen. He now works closely with the ERGs at Channel 4 in ensuring inclusion is at the heart of our learning approach. He has a PhD and MBA from Imperial College and a BA in Modern Languages from Leeds and has published widely in the area of diversity.

Damini Onifade is the Head of Compensation & Benefits at Channel 4 and is also a co-chair of The Collective, the Channel’s internal network for BAME employees. After gaining his BSc from the LSE, he has built up almost 9 years of experience in the reward industry, having worked in various permanent and interim positions across the Public, Higher Education, Financial Services, Tech and Media sectors. Damini has developed a niche in addressing the intersection between diversity and pay and has supported organisations in conducting equal pay audits and pay gap analyses and formulating and implementing actions to address issues arising. Outside of his 9-5, Damini has always kept himself busy working on digital content creation and various ventures and businesses, ranging from throwing parties, building and developing separate alcohol and clothing brands, podcasting the journeys of successful Black influential role models, including the NBA legend Shaq and travel vlogging, reaching millions of viewers around the world.
