WBS Extreme Context Summit 2025
Dates: Monday 15th & Tuesday 16th September 2025
Location, The Shard, WBS London Campus
Extreme contexts research is a fast-growing area within management studies, focused on understanding organisations and work in risky, emergency, and disrupted environments (Hällgren, Rouleau, & de Rond, 2018).
To support professional development in this exciting field, showcase the latest research, and shape future directions, we are pleased to announce that Warwick Business School will host the inaugural Extreme Contexts Summit at The Shard.
Who should apply?
This event is aimed at scholars with an interest in extreme contexts research, including early career researchers (e.g., PhD students, postdocs, assistant professors) as well as mid- and late-career researchers (e.g., associate and full professors).
Extreme contexts research is an international and interdisciplinary endeavour, and we welcome scholars from a range of academic disciplines, including management and organisation studies, the social sciences, and applied fields.
What the event will include?
- Keynote presentations by leading scholars in the field, including Prof. Mark de Rond (University of Cambridge), Prof. Markus Hällgren (Umeå University), and Prof. April Wright (Warwick Business School)
- Paper development sessions where you can get ideas and feedback for empirical or theoretical studies, especially aimed at early career researchers
-
Meeting colleagues in the field with views over London from the Shard
- An exciting fieldtrip to connect and engage with a local emergency response organisation.
