Meet Christopher Tegah: Maths Teacher

Christopher

Christopher Tegah is a Teacher in Agona East, Ghana

I have been teaching at Kwanyako Junior High School for 16 years, I am now the longest remaining staff member. I am currently teaching Maths but I first taught technical subjects such as crafting and furniture.I started teaching primary students right after high school, later I completed a degree in technical skills (crafting and furniture). A bachelor’s degree is required to be able to teach secondary school students, which is what I pursued after university.

I have seen three years of Warwick in Africa, and I have seen that volunteers bring creative and new ways of teaching that makes the students enjoy learning. Also, because the volunteers are different from us in the way you speak and act, the students are eager to get to know you better and want to learn more.

I have seen that the current JHS 2 benefitted from Warwick in Africa last year, resulted in some students becoming very bright. I have found myself using some techniques to check that everyone understands what is being learnt in class.
