Wireless network unavailable on 28 May between 07:30 & 08:30
To add increased resilience to the wireless network, upgrade work will be taking place on Thursday 28 May between 07:30 and 08:30. During this time it will not be possible to connect to the wireless network.
Recent losses of internet connectivity
The internet connectivity issues experienced by many customers last week has been traced to a problem with the core JANET network which was beyond our control. Investigations are still on-going by JANET to trace the root-cause and to prevent any re-occurrence. Further information is available from JANET.
Wireless access unavailable 07:30 to 08:00 on 12 May
To add increased resilience to the wireless network a hardware upgrade is proposed for 12 May. This will mean that there is intermittent connection to the wireless network between 07:30 and 08:00 while the work is taking place.
Internet access at risk Tuesday 17 March 07:00 to 09:00
To provide increased resilience to our connection to the JANET network, we will be performing a hardware upgrade between 07:00 and 09:00 on Tuesday 17 March. Although no impact on service is expected, connection to the Internet should be considered “at risk” while the work is taking place.
Strategic partner appointed for network replacement project
IT Services are pleased to confirm that Cisco Systems have been appointed as a Strategic Partner to the University for Networks and Associated Technologies.
Disruption to internet connection 16 December 07:00 to 08:00
There will be intermittent disruption to the University’s Internet connection between 07:00 and 08:00 on Tuesday 16 December to allow for development work on our connection to the SuperJANET network.
Connection and use of campus network
With the start of a new-term upon us, a reminder that there are several University Policies governing the use of computers.
No Internet Access between 21:00 to 21:45 on Monday 22 September
Internet access will be unavailable on Monday between 21:00 and 21:45.
Major incident 25/26 May 2008
On Saturday morning
a failure of the Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) resulted in a loss of power
to the main IT Services Machine Room.
IT Services staff
attended site on Saturday and Sunday and restored the majority of services, the
remaining services are expected to be available this morning (Tuesday 27 May).
