Alongside this, Warwick Conferences have been at the forefront of the industry when it comes to sustainability. Among the highlights from the last year has been a sustainability-focused refurbishment of 204 bedrooms at the Scarman Training and Conference Centre in 2023, a tree-planting initiative that saw over 200 trees planted onsite and the creation of a Carbon Calculator tool to help event planners measure and address the environmental impact of their event. This activity has been guided by a Sustainability Roadmap which has been developed in conjunction with University of Warwick colleagues, providing an invaluable blueprint of ways in which they can achieve the goal of net zero direct carbon emissions by 2030. The winners of the miaList awards will be announced on 7th November 2024 at Hilton Liverpool City Centre. Recognition in these shortlists follows a number of accolades and wins achieved by Warwick Conferences, including Silver in the Visit England Awards for Excellence as Business Events Venue of the Year, ECOSmart Platinum status, finalist status at the U Dine Awards 2024, and a Platinum Positive Impacts Special Award for Justine Meek, Warwick Conferences’ Agency Relationship Manager. Commenting on this latest success, Paul Bartlett, Director of Conferences at Warwick Conferences, said: “We’re delighted to be recognised alongside some of the top names in the UK events industry at the miaList awards. This not only reflects our efforts as one of the premier business event destinations in the country, but also shines a light on our industry-leading sustainability strategy which is embedded into everything we do. “This is a wonderful achievement, and I am extremely proud of the whole team for their efforts. We are excited to attend the ceremony later this year, with our fingers crossed for a positive result in both categories.” |
