Pay It Forward - Six Months On

It’s over six months since Warwick Food Group rolled out the Pay It Forward scheme across campus. The initiative gives members of the campus community an opportunity to spread generosity and support students in need by buying a drink or meal for them in advance.

Customers can go to the till in any of our donation locations and purchase a hot drink, sandwich meal deal or hot meal deal tag. The purchased tags are then displayed in cafes for students to take and redeem at the till point whenever they need it most.

The scheme was originally trialled at Café Gibbet Hill with great success. Elodie Michaud, Food & Beverage Manager on Gibbet Hill campus says “the PIF scheme is a really good idea because it helps students who might be struggling financially. It gives them the chance to enjoy a free drink, hot meal or meal deal without feeling left out. In Cafe Gibbet Hill, it worked well and I think people are happy to support others by paying in advance. It created a kind and positive atmosphere, and it is nice to see the community helping each other."

Since rolling it out across campus, WFG are thrilled to announce that they have received £1350 in donations so far. This equates to 385 hot drinks, or 317 sandwich meal deals or 180 hot meals! Thank you to those of you that have donated to the scheme so far.
