Recent Changes to the University Calendar
Revisions to Regulation 8
At its meeting held on 20 May 2015, the University Council resolved that proposed amendments to University Regulation 8 governing the Regulations for First Degrees be confirmed.
Rationale: To reflect that interim formal 'Pass Degree' status for students is now largely obsolete, and that academically weak or insufficiently conscientious students may be counselled or encouraged more effectively in other ways than by amendment to their formal 'Honours' or 'Pass' status on the student record.
Revisions to Regulations 4, 8 and 11
At its meeting held on 11 – 12 February 2015, the University Council resolved that proposed amendments to University Regulation 4 Annual Review by the Academic Staff Committee be confirmed.
Rationale: To reflect changes to the teaching criteria approved by Senate on 3 July 2014.
At its meeting held on 11 – 12 February 2015, the University Council resolved that proposed amendments to University Regulation 8.10 Regulations for the Degrees of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) and for the Bachelor of Medical Sciences (BMedSci) be confirmed.
Rationale: To reflect a removal of November re-sits for finalists, and to bring appeals guidance in line with other Faculties.
At its meeting held on 11 – 12 February 2015, the University Council resolved that proposed amendments to University Regulation 8.13 Regulations for the Part-time Degree of BEng in Applied Engineering be confirmed.
Rationale: To allow for second year resits for the part-time Beng in Applied Engineering to take place in the September of the same year in which a student has not passed his/her module(s), rather than the following summer.
At its meeting held on 11 – 12 February 2015, the University Council resolved that proposed amendments to University Regulation 11 Procedure to be adopted in the Event of Suspected cheating in a University Test be confirmed.
Rationale: To reflect an explicit link between Regulation 11 and the 'Senate Examination and Degree Conventions'.
Revisions to Regulation 9
At its meeting held on 9 October 2014, the University Council resolved that the proposed amendments to University Regulation 9 Governing the Constitution of Boards of Examiners be confirmed.
Revisions to Regulations 6, 7, 9 and 34
At its meeting held on 9 July 2014, the University Council resolved that the proposed amendments to University Regulation 6 governing the Research Degrees be confirmed.
At its meeting held on 9 July 2014, the University Council resolved that the proposed amendments to University Regulation 7 governing the regulations for the Award and Tenure of Scholarships be confirmed.
At its meeting held on 9 July 2014, the University Council resolved that the proposed amendments to University Regulation 9 governing the regulations for the Constitution of Boards of Examiners be confirmed.
At its meeting held on 9 July 2014, the University Council resolved that the proposed amendments to University Regulation 34 governing the regulations for the Determination of Fitness to Practice be confirmed.
Revisions to Regulations 8.10, 36 and 38.12
At its meeting held on 14 May 2014, the University Council resolved that the proposed amendments to Regulation 8.10 governing Regulations for the Degrees of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB ChB) and for the Bachelor of Medical Sciences (BMedSci) be approved.
At its meeting held on 14 May 2014, the University Council resolved that the proposed amendments to Regulation 36 governing student registration, attendance and progress be approved.
At its meeting held on 14 May 2014, the University Council resolved that the proposed amendments to Regulation 38.12 governing Regulations for the Degree of Doctor of Clinical Psychology (DClinPsych) be approved.
