Recent Changes to the University Calendar
Revisions to Ordinances 7, 9 and 16
At its meeting on 22 November 2017 the Council approved for the first time amendments to Ordinance 7 on Constitution of the Boards of the Faculties and Ordinance 9 on Board of Graduate Studies.
Rationale: To reflect the disestablishment of the Board of Undergraduate Studies and the merger of the Undergraduate and Graduate Studies Committees of the Boards of the Faculties to form Faculty Education Committees. Additionally, to remove redundant references to sub-faculties.
At its meeting on 22 November 2017 the Council approved for the second time amendments to Ordinance 16 on Payment of Annual Fees, Residential Charges and Other Debts.
Rationale: To reflect the introduction of an administration fee, proposed by the Fees Working Group, to cover the administration costs of following up late payments of residential charges or academic fees by students.
Revisions to Ordinances 10 and 11
At its meeting on 18 October 2017 the Council approved for the second time, an amendment to University Ordinance 10 on Departments.
Rationale: To allow the wording of Ordinance 10 to be generalised to allow for flexibility in determining the appropriate leadership role as the nature and size of Departments change over time.
At its meeting on 18 October 2017 the Council approved for the second time, an amendment to University Ordinance 11 on the Appointment of Heads of Departments.
Rationale: That in some cases the role of Head of Department is incorporated into a broader substantive appointment, such as Chair, or Executive Dean and that such roles should not fall within the provisions of Ordinance 11.
Revisions to Ordinance 16
Chair’s action was taken on 29 September 2017 to approve for the first time, an amendment to University Ordinance 16 on Payment of Annual Fees, Residential Charges and Other Debts.

Rationale: To reflect the approved change in name of the Centre for Professional Education to the Centre for Teacher Education.
At its meeting on 12 July 2017 the Council approved for the first time, an amendment to University Ordinance 10 on Departments.

On 21 June 2017, Chair's Action was taken on behalf of the Council to approve for the first time an amendment to University Ordinance 13 on Degrees and Diplomas.
At its meeting on 12 July 2017 the Council approved for the second time, an amendment to University Ordinance 13 on Degrees and Diplomas.
Rationale: To remove reference to the Master of Clinical Sciences (MClinSci), which is no longer offered.
Revisions to Ordinance 7
At its meeting on 17 May 2017 the Council approved for the first time, an amendment to University Ordinance 7 on the Constitution of the Boards of the Faculties.
Rationale: To reflect the approved change in name of the Centre for Professional Education to the Centre for Teacher Education.
