Recent Changes to the University Calendar
Revisions to Ordinance 7
On 16 August 2023 the Vice-Chancellor approved on behalf of Senate revisions to the constitution of the Board of the Faculty of Social Sciences as set out in Ordinance 7 Academic Bodies, section 7.1(5)(c), to reflect the reconfiguration of five departments (Applied Linguistics, CTE, CLL, CEDAR (CIDD from 1 August 2023) and DES) to form the School of Education, Learning and Communication Sciences (SELCS) with effect from 1 August 2023.
The revisions were confirmed on 21 August 2023 by the Chair of Council on behalf of the Council and the updates came into immediate effect.
Revision to Ordinance 9
On 13 June 2023 the Council confirmed, on the recommendation of the Senate, the proposed revisions to Ordinance 9: Remove section 9(4) relating to Honorary Masters as no longer required.
Revision to Ordinance 7
On 17 May 2023 the Council confirmed, on the recommendation of the Senate, the proposed revisions to Ordinance 7: Academic Bodies, to reflect the creation of the roles of Deputy Chair (Education) and Deputy Chair (Research) within the membership of the Board of the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Medicine.
Revisions to Ordinances 4, 5, and 7
On 26 January 2022 the Senate approved amendments to Ordinances 4, 5, and 7 to reflect changes in practice over time and organisational and operational revisions which have already been approved and implemented to:
- Ordinance 4 (Committees of the Council), relating to the title of the University Estate and Environment Committee and to the reporting structure for the Fundraising Ethics Committee.
- Ordinance 5 (The Senate), relating to the reporting structure for the Fundraising Ethics Committee.
- Ordinance 7 (Academic Bodies), relating to the role title of the Dean of the Warwick Manufacturing Group, the processes for the appointment of Heads of Departments, and the removal of the constitution and terms of reference for the Board of Graduate Studies.
These changes took place with immediate effect post Senate approval and were confirmed by the Council on 9 February 2022.
Revision to Ordinance 8
On 6 October 2021 the Senate approved an amendment to Ordinance 8 on Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates, to include the award of Foundation Degree in Science (FdSc). This was confirmed by Council on 13 October 2021.
