Statute 6: Powers of the Council

(1)

Subject to the Charter and these Statutes, the Council will exercise all of the powers, duties and functions of the University. These include, but are not limited to, those powers, duties and functions set out in Ordinance.

(2)

The Council may delegate any of its powers, duties and functions to a committee, or to any person or body, except that it must not delegate the following:

(a)

the determination of the educational character and mission of the University;

(b)

the approval of the annual estimates of income and expenditure;

(c) ensuring the solvency of the University and safeguarding its assets;
(d)

the appointment or removal of the Chancellor or the Vice-Chancellor;

(e)

the making of Statutes and Ordinances;

(f)

the amendment or repeal of the Charter.
