Recent Changes to the University Calendar
Updates to Regulation 29
On 29 January 2025 the Senate approved updates to Regulation 29: Code of Practice relating to Freedom of Speech, Academic Freedom and the prevention of individuals from being drawn into terrorism consequent to the Government suspending the implementation of the Higher Education (Freedom of Speech) Act 2023, with immediate effect.
These changes were noted by the Council on 12 February 2025.
Updates to Regulations 3, 6, 9, 11, 15, 23, 32, 34, 36, 37, 38, 40, 42 and 44
On 29 January 2025 the Senate approved minor updates to Regulations 3, 6, 9, 11, 15, 23, 32, 34, 36, 37, 38, 40, 42 and 44 to update academic governance committee titles in accordance with the recommendations of the Academic Governance Review 2023/24 Final Report.
These changes took immediate effect and were noted by the Council on 12 February 2025.
Update to 1.4 Committees of the University
On 16 December 2024, Section 1.4 "Committees of the University" was updated to include text on the role of the University Executive Board (UEB).
Revisions to Ordinances 4 and 13
On 28 November 2024, the Chair of Council approved with immediate effect on behalf of the Council amendments to Ordinance 4.4 Powers of the Council (and therefore the Terms of Reference of Council) and Ordinance 13: Custody and Use of the Seal to add the Secretary to Council and the Group Finance Director or the Finance Director, in addition to members of Council, to the list of persons authorised by Council to authenticate the Seal.
Updates to Regulation 29
On 7 November 2024 the Senate approved updates to Regulation 29: Code of Practice relating to Freedom of Speech, Academic Freedom and the prevention of individuals from being drawn into terrorism consequent to HM Government suspending the implementation of the Higher Education (Freedom of Speech) Act 2023, with immediate effect.
These changes will be noted by the University Executive Board on 11 November 2024 and by the Council on 22 November 2024.
