Recent Changes to the University Calendar
Revisions to Regulation 40
On 17 April 2024 the Senate approved with immediate effect amendments to Regulation 40: Collaborative Courses to reflect the change of language adopted in Regulation 11 Academic Integrity, as well as the change in name of Regulation 11 (from “Procedure to be Adopted in the Event of Suspected Cheating in A University Test” to “Academic Integrity” approved in October 2021).
These changes will be noted by the Council on 22 May 2024.
Revisions to Regulation 21
On 17 April 2024 the Senate approved with immediate effect amendments to Regulation 21: Conferment of Degrees to more accurately reflect how degrees are awarded and conferred, to update the Degree Congregation’s dress code and to remove gendered language.
These changes will be noted by the Council on 22 May 2024.
Update to degree title in Appendix A of Regulation 34
On 15 February 2024 the Vice-Chancellor approved on behalf of Senate with immediate effect, and on the recommendation of the Chair of the Course Proposal Scrutiny Panel, an update to a degree title in Appendix A of Regulation 34 Determination of Fitness to Practise, from BA in Person Centred Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Relationships to BA Counselling and the Psychotherapeutic Relationship.
Updates to Regulation 45
On 12 September 2023 the Vice-Chancellor approved on behalf of Senate with immediate effect and in advance of the start of the 2023-24 academic year, amendments to Regulation 45 Governing Payment of Annual Fees, Residential Charges and Other Debts, to reflect current processes i.e. that since the Covid-19 pandemic students are no longer required to appear before the Annual Fees (Special Cases) Sub-Committee, rather they are invited to submit a written statement and/or payment proposal for consideration by the Sub-Committee. The Sub-Committee has also been renamed to better reflect its role to: “Academic Fee Payments Sub-Committee”.
These changes will be noted by the Council on 11 October 2023.
Update to Regulation 23
On 28 June 2023 the Senate approved with immediate effect amendments to Regulation 23: Student Disciplinary Offences, following two legal judgments which had set case law precedents relating to legal representation and testing the evidence, and therefore needed to be reflected in the regulation.
These changes will be noted by the Council on 13 July 2023.
