Revisions to the Standing Orders of the Council
At its meeting on 9 October 2024 the Council approved revisions to its Standing Orders to reflect current practice around the preparation and running of meetings of Council.
Revisions to Ordinances 3, 4 and 6
On 9 October 2024 the Council confirmed, on the recommendation of Vice-Chancellor on behalf of the Senate, minor changes to Ordinances 3: Officers of the University, 4: The Council and 6: The Assembly following recommendations made as part of the recent Council Effectiveness Review, with immediate effect.
Updates to Regulation 42
On 26 June 2024 the Senate approved minor updates to Regulation 42: Governing Academic Appeals to harmonise the academic appeals process for all taught students entering the University from the start of the 2024-25 academic year.
These changes were noted by the Council on 10 July 2024 and took effect from the start of the 2024-25 academic year.
Revisions to Regulation 8.10
On 26 June 2024 the Senate approved revisions to to Regulation 8.10: Regulations for the Degrees of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) and for the Bachelor of Medical Sciences (BMedSci) to ensure Boards of Examiners can receive results of the first diet of the United Kingdom Medical Licensing Assessment and apply decisions in line with national policy, General Medical Council requirements and to ensure ongoing compliance. Minor updates to allow for unforeseen changes to assessment delivery, remove duplicate wording, and better align with University terminology were also made.
These changes were noted by the Council on 10 July 2024 and took effect from the start of the 2024-25 academic year.
Updates to Regulation 43
On 17 April 2024 the Senate approved minor updates to Regulation 43: Governing Undergraduate Degree Apprenticeships to align with changes to the Right to Remedy Failure Policy to permit Boards of Examiners to take place at appropriate times during the academic year and to make recommendations for reassessment, continuation, or withdrawal.
These changes were noted by the Council on 22 May 2024 and took effect from the start of the 2024-25 academic year.
