Recent Changes to the University Calendar
Update to Regulation 23
On 25 June 2025 the Senate approved amendments to Regulation 23: Regulation Governing Student Misconduct and Disciplinary Committees, related to updating the names of the Discipline Committee and Student Discipline Appeals Committee to the Student Misconduct Panel and the Student Misconduct Appeals Panel respectively. These changes were made to the Regulation on 1 October 2025. The changes were noted by the Council on 9 July 2025.
Revisions to Ordinance 7
On 9 July 2025 the Council approved revisions to Ordinance 7: Academic Organisation, from 2025-26.
The revisions arose from the Review of Academic Governance undertaken through 2023/24 and 2024/25; the Council Effectiveness Review undertaken through 2023/24 and revisions to practice or terms of reference not yet reflected in Governing Instruments.
Updates to Regulations 1, 3, 6, 8, 9, 11, 15, 20, 34, 36, 37, 38, 41, 42 and 43
On 25 June 2025, the Senate approved amendments to Regulations 1, 3, 6, 8, 9, 11, 15, 20, 34, 36, 37, 38, 41, 42 and 43 to reflect the disestablishment of Faculty Boards from the 2025/26 academic year. Changes came into effect on 1 August 2025.
These changes were noted by the Council on 9 July 2025.
Update to Regulation 29
On 11 July 2025, the Senate Chair approved amendments to Regulation 29: Code of Practice relating to Freedom of Speech, Academic Freedom and the prevention of individuals from being drawn into terrorism, following updates by Legal and Compliance Services. Changes came into effect upon publication on 29 July 2025.
These changes will be noted by the Council on 15 October 2025.
Revisions to Ordinances 3.5, 4 and 5
On 9 July 2025 the Council approved revisions to Ordinances 3.5: The Pro-Vice-Chancellors, 4: The Council and 5: The Senate with immediate effect.
