Assembly Update: June 2018
A meeting of the University Assembly took place on 29 June 2018 to consider a motion: ‘Senate Sub-Group Revisions to Statute 24‘.
Read more on the motion here.
The membership discussed that more time was required to consider the proposals being put forward in relation to the reform of Statute 24. A motion was then moved at the meeting for the Assembly’s consideration: ‘Adjournment of the Assembly meeting’. The motion was passed with a slight majority (52 for, 42 against and 11 abstentions).
The Assembly is not a decision making body, but it is able to make recommendations to the University Council and Senate. The outcome of this Assembly meeting was reported to the Senate at its meeting on 4 July 2018 and the Council at its meeting on 11 July 2018.
