In July 2024, following the 2024 Academic Governance Review, the University Senate and Council approved that the Apprenticeship and Work-based Learning Steering Group should be renamed to the Apprenticeships Oversight Panel.

Purpose: To have overall responsibility for the delivery of apprenticeships at the University of Warwick, including the performance of programmes, adherence to regulations, and the development of apprenticeship provision. To provide assurance to the Quality and Standards Subcommittee and other committees that apprenticeships provision is appropriately managed and to provide challenge, where necessary, to ensure quality assurance is robust. |

1.To support the delivery of the University’s Education, Employability and Student Recruitment Strategies through the development of institutional strategy and policy on apprenticeship provision. 2. To steer the diversification of the University’s educational offer through the development of sector-leading apprenticeships in a joined-up and coherent way. 3. To have responsibility, on behalf of Quality and Standards Subcommittee, for ensuring the quality and standards of apprenticeship with specific responsibility for the development and monitoring of the institutional SAR and QIP. 4. To ensure that the university and departments involved in the delivery of apprenticeships are meeting the requirements and expectations of external quality assurance and regulatory bodies. 5. To receive updates from the Apprenticeships Quality Assurance Group, Apprenticeship and Work-based Learning Operations and Compliance Group, and Curriculum Approval Panel. 6. To advise Quality and Standards Subcommittee about current and future developments in apprenticeships and their alignment with University strategy and policy. 7. To survey external landscapes to ensure Warwick’s provision is responsive to regional and national contexts. 8. To monitor and report on the University’s responsibilities for safeguarding in the delivery of apprenticeships. |
The Apprenticeships Oversight Panel will report to the Quality and Standards Subcommittee.
