Research Governance and Ethics Committee
RGAEC has responsibility for approval and oversight of the University’s research governance framework, including Ethics, Sponsorship, Trusted Research, and Research Integrity. It also has responsibility for the oversight and implementation of the University’s ethical principles relating to research funding and partnerships. The Committee provides assurance to the Senate and the Council that policies and procedures are in place to ensure the University’s compliance with its regulatory obligations, as they relate to research.
Applications are invited for the committee vacancies listed below.
There are two vacancies to join the Research Governance and Ethics Committee, for staff from the University research community. The committee are actively seeking staff with diverse experiences and perspectives, but particularly those with knowledge or experience of areas of research that require consideration of Trusted Research / Research Security requirements.

A reasonable expectation regarding time commitment is approximately 4 hours per meeting, which includes the actual meeting time as well as time to read the papers, which are circulated via SharePoint a week in advance of each meeting.
Nominations Process
- Nominations should be submitted using the webform by 4pm on Friday 30th January 2026. Each nomination must include a statement of up to 300 words, tailored to the specific committee. The Senate Nominations Panel is interested in the unique and relevant experiences you have that help you bring a new and wider perspective to the committee.
- Nominations will be reviewed by the Committee Secretariat and a member of the Senate Nominations Panel, who will then make recommendations to the Senate Nominations Panel to review and approve.
