URSS Step 4: Share your research
Importance of sharing your research
An important element of the URSS is sharing your research, both with other students and university staff at the URSS Showcase event, and with members of the public through Public Engagement activities.
You will need to produce a project output to share at the URSS Showcase, as well as a public engagement output. There is support available from Warwick Institute of Engagement (WIE) to help you do this.

Project outputs
Your project output can be in any form – choose what is most appropriate to the subject and feel free to be creative!
Previous URSS project outputs have included documentary films, posters, academic papers and ‘3 minute thesis’ presentations.
Take a look at our virtual showcaseLink opens in a new window for examples of previous URSS project outputs.
Public engagement outputs
You’ll also need to create a public engagement output for your project. This is a way of presenting your work to people outside the university. Again, we encourage you to be creative.
Examples of public engagement outputs include:
- blogs / vlogs
- podcasts
- zines
- outreach activities with organisations such as schools,

URSS showcase on campus
The URSS showcase in November takes place on campus and is a great opportunity to share your research with staff, students and those from outside the university too.
It’s not compulsory but we encourage you to attend as it is part of the URSS experience and will enable you to develop the essential research skill of communicating your findings.

)Public engagement event off campus
Also in November, you can take part in a public engagement event off campus too:
This is optional, but it is a good opportunity to present your work to the public and fulfil the public engagement requirement of your URSS project.
