Adedoyin Adeyanju
Athletics
Athlete Bio
I'm Adedoyin, a third-year systems engineering student here at Warwick. I always did athletics in school competitions, however, I only started training specifically for athletics when I was 15 years old.
I came across triple jump by accident, there was a gap in the team sheet for a league match and I stepped in to get points for the team and the rest is history. I love athletics; it's been a really good way to channel my athletic ability and has given me the opportunity to meet people and travel to a multitude of cities to train and compete.
This season I'm looking forward to competing at the major championships and challenging for some medals! I'm grateful for the Warwick Scholars Program as this'll allow me to have access to physiotherapy, sports psychology and a nutritionist which will help me develop as an athlete, more holistically just training itself.

Netball
Athlete Bio
I started club netball at the age of 9 and grew up on the sidelines of a netball court, watching my mum play and coach. I couldn’t wait to get on court, and the minute I did I loved the team nature and competition of the sport. I progressed as a netball athlete from Couty Academy into Loughborough Lightning NPL squads and upon coming to university last year I was selected as part of the Central Warriors U19 NPL squad and Warwick BUCS 1’s, as well as maintaining performance club competition in Yorkshire. I train and play for my performance home club at weekends in Yorkshire Prem. I enjoy spending time in the pursuit of performance netball, conducting analysis and improving the tactical side of the game. I’m excited to bring this to the Warwick BUCS teams this year as BUCS captain. I am a qualified level 2 coach, specialising in performance netball coaching, and a C Award umpire. Currently, I am in the u61kg weight class and still have a lot to learn about the sport, but I am determined to prove what I am capable of in the coming years with the support of the University of Warwick.
The thing I love most about Olympic Weightlifting is the unique mix of raw power and technical ability that come together to make the lifts. Both these elements take dedication to build and improve upon but knowing you can’t achieve perfection in these elements keeps me striving for more.

Archery
Athlete Bio
For the past 14 years, archery has been a stable part of my life. It has been quite the journey from first picking up the bow to my first competition, my first national title, and my first Olympics at 19. It involved countless hours of training and no small amount of obsession over the sport, especially when my studies demanded more and more time.
Since returning to my studies and coming to Warwick to read Physics, I have regained a passion for the dual career of studying and sport, and been thoroughly supported to do both. It hasn’t been an easy ride, but after not making the team for the European Championships in 2022 (my 1st year), I was able to bounce back and make the team for the World Championships and European Games this past season. Although it wasn’t the season I wanted, I am truly proud that I made Team GB while studying.
Looking into the next year, I am taking a year to focus on Archery, to hopefully qualify for and compete at the Paris Olympics, where I hope to medal with my teammates (yes, archery can be a team sport as well)!

I am a dedicated athlete with a lifelong love for sports, having competed in many sports to high levels, such as swimming, gymnastics, dance, athletics, water polo, and cheerleading. I found my sporting passion when I delved into team sports and started playing netball in year six and lacrosse in year seven. These two sports have become my main sporting focus, and I am always striving to improve and push myself to new heights while also gaining other hobbies, such as CrossFit and running.
I aim to become a research scientist; I am currently in my second year of pursuing a biochemistry degree.

Powerlifting
Athlete Bio
I am a 2nd year Ph.D. at the Warwick Medical School, working on a universal influenza vaccine using novel antigen and vector systems. Alongside my academic work I have been powerlifting for over 4 years with over 8 years of experience in strength sports. Powerlifting is the perfect synergist to my studies; the training is incredibly structured, regimented and requires unwavering dedication, whilst the competitions are very tactical.
Looking ahead to the upcoming season, I've set some ambitious goals for myself in the Squat, Bench Press, and Deadlift. My aim is to surpass my previous personal bests, which have already positioned me as one of the top lifters in my weight category.
I want to emphasize the tremendous value I've gained from the support provided by the University of Warwick. This support has been and continues to be invaluable, especially during the past year when I faced several unfortunate knee injuries. Access to Warwick's top-tier facilities and a team of professionals, including sports psychologists, physiotherapists, and nutritionists, has played a significant role in my recovery process and surely will be an important part in the season to come.
Sporting Highlights and Stats
- For my weight category my bench press is ranked among the highest in the world with a competition maximum of 192.5kg and 200kg in training. In a full-power meet I had a final junior’s performance of a 735kg total, sufficient to break several regional records and rank me in the top 10 active lifters in the UK.
- Towards the end of the season, despite a torn ACL, I managed to secure an overall bronze finish and a first place in the Bench Press category at the English Nationals.

This season I hope to utilise the support from Warwick sport to develop as an athlete and push my performance up a level by increasing my training intensity. My future goals are to achieve top 10’s and podiums at international races.

I started my rugby journey aged 11 at the Oratory School and very quickly became fond of the sport. A sport notorious for its brute force and muscle men but also for the slight and quick, a great contrast and a sport for everyone.
This season I look forward to chase promotion again with Rams, as we got agonisingly close to it last season, so we feel ready to go for it again. On the university side of things, I study Law LLB and currently in my second year and thoroughly enjoying it.
I’d like to see myself going back into professional rugby as I’ve had a taste of that lifestyle straight out of school and is something I aspire to reach again.

Athletics, Track & Field
Athlete Bio
Having initially started athletics at age fourteen, progression followed rapidly becoming county, regional and national champion within a two-year timeframe. Finding a fondness for high-pressure moments, I admire the format of working diligently all year to see efforts pay off, all at once, in a point that lasts seconds. Aspiring to excel academically and athletically by investing efforts concomitantly in athletics and the BEng Civil Engineering course, the University of Warwick have the foundations to reach both potentials.

I find immense joy in the precision and agility required to excel in badminton, and it's a sport that has taught me discipline and perseverance. This season, I'm excited to challenge myself and elevate my performance on the court. Off the court, I'm pursuing PGCert Career Development and Coaching Studies and aspire to balance my academic and sporting commitments effectively. Javelin
Athlete Bio
Hi, I’m Rebecca (Becky), I’m a third-year systems engineering student, and I’ve just returned from a year in industry. Sport has always been a big part of my life and I started athletics when I was around 12.
Having tried nearly every event in athletics, javelin soon became my favourite and has been my focus for the last 5 years. My favourite feeling is hitting a great throw and seeing it fly.
This year I’m really looking forward to pushing myself to see what I can do. This programme allows me to pursue further development in areas new to me, such as nutrition, sports psychology, and lifestyle support.
I’m very excited to get to know the team better, and a huge thank you to everyone who has been a part of my journey so far!
Sporting Highlights and Stats
- Ranked 14th in the UK U23 Women’s Javelin 2023.
- New personal best of 41.00m in September 2023.

Ice Hockey
Athlete Bio
I first started skating when I was about 4 years old, and from there got into ice hockey a couple years after. I grew up playing through the Junior Academy in Coventry for almost 10 years before wanting to pursue the sport at a higher level and moved to Canada for 2 years to play for a Prep. Academy, followed by a year in Wisconsin. Now I am back in England playing professionally in my second year with the Telford Tigers. I enjoy ice hockey because of its completely unique game style and fast pace, along with it providing me many transferrable skills to other sports. At the same time as playing for the Tigers, I am also studying Automotive Engineering here at Warwick and hope to get an MEng degree from these studies. In the future, I hope to continue progressing my professional career as well as represent my country in the Men’s World Championships after playing all through the Great Britain u16s, u18s and u20s programs.

Athletics - Hurdles, Decathlon
Athlete Bio
I’m a first-year modern languages student. I started athletics when I was around 10, following both my dad and sister who trained at the local club and immediately clicked with the sport. I’ve always been indecisive and enjoyed all the aspects of athletics, so it was unsurprising I ended up in combined events! I really enjoy the variety that the combined events provide in both competitions and training and completing a full decathlon can be very rewarding.
This season I’m looking hopefully to be challenging for podium places (with it being my final year in the U20 age group) and hope to push the 7000 target we’ve set for this year. I’m looking forward to having access to all the expertise that Warwick provides including specific expertise in psychology and S&C, which should help me towards this point target.

- 10th U20 National Combined Events 2023.

Athlete Bio
I started playing badminton at the age of 7. Initially I was during Athletics in Jamaica but it was just too hard on the body. So a family friend recommended to my parents that I try badminton. I did, and I immediately and absolutely fell in love with the game. Just how dynamic and exciting it was but how it also had a strong element of thinking and trying to outmanoeuvre your opponents!
I’m very much looking forward to just reaching a new level of consistency and belief and consistency in my game this year. I know the results will come but I’d like to step into situations with my strength and authority this season.
I’m currently shifting my course from PGCert in Career Development and Coaching Studies to the PGDip.
I aspire to be Jamaica’s first male to have made it to the Olympics in the sport of badminton. So hopefully I can achieve that this year in Paris.
In terms of working with the WU team, I’d like to engage in maintaining and even bettering the relationships with the team. I’d like to walk in good partnership in the WU Sports brand, representing well and succeeding. I’m looking forward to allowing the team to further challenge me and help me to grow and develop.
Sporting Highlights and Stats
- Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham (Quarter-final finish)

Netball
Athlete Bio
I’m Tori and I’m currently a first-year student studying Health and Medical Sciences. I started playing netball when I was 10 at a local club but moved to Eagles Netball Club where I’ve been ever since. I first fell in love with netball due to the unity and belongingness I felt in a team, and experiencing the highs and lows of the sport with them made these bonds even tighter. Not only have I gained physical strength from playing, but also mental strength to keep going when losing and thinking tactically under pressure.
I am really excited to begin this new chapter and see what this season holds for me, progressing in my sport but also in my academics at Warwick. In the future, I would love to have a career in the medical field.
I feel extremely fortunate to be a part of the scholarship program at Warwick, as the support will allow me more opportunities to keep improving and stretching myself in netball.

- Being part of the England Roses Academy at U17s & U19s
- Achieving a gold medal at Netball Europe 2022

I started to play badminton when I was 5, but only for fun. Now I have been playing badminton on and off for 18 years. It's one of the most important parts of my life, not only because of the honour it brings me, but also the cute people I met because of the same interest.
