Student Communication and Recruitment Suppot

For Current Students

Specific PGT comms in July & August

Expanding central PGT newsletter provision to include July & August, introducing the new 'International Student Careers' webpage, students' working rights towards the end of their course, post study work visa options, introduce Alumni service and the WarwickGrad platform, outline support for various pathways and support available, and highlight upcoming events and development opportunities.

Tailoring communications plan

Review and co-create the PGT communications plan for differentiation, to include synergy with the weekly newsletter from Student Opportunity. This may include the introduction of a 'Your Careers' feature, highlight the SO newsletter, Warwick Award, and promote early engagement with Alumni to facilitate networking.

'Prepare for life after studies' webpage

The creation of a new Prepare for life after studies webpage for current students (both home and international), sitting under MyWarwick.

Provide useful resources for students for a smoother transitioning out journey.

For Offer Holders

Enhancing recruitment assets

Produce diverse assets (slides, Q&As etc.) showcasing transitional support and success stories international students are most interested in for recruitment's pre-departure briefing events.

Specific careers info/webinar at pre-arrival stage

Explore embedding specific career information/webinars into Pre-departure Briefing package to ensure the offer holders are career ready and are better informed of the career support.

For Staff

Leveraging Unibuddy for early career planning and awareness

To expand the university's platform for chatting with current students, Unibuddy, to include a 'chat with staff' feature, and onboard selected staff members and current PGT students who are International Student Ambassadors so that prospective PGT students can reach out to them and read their blogs. The aim is to promote early career planning benefits and direct them to relevant resources even before arrival.

Keeping Staff informed on visa updates

Utilise monthly briefing events with Admissions to update recruitment colleagues on latest visa rules, trends, and issues for better support.

Utilise events such as 'Staff Briefing' to inform wider colleagues of visa updates including other support at pre-arrival stage.

Social Media

Engage international PGT students in social media output

Collaboration between MCI, SE and Careers on the Graduation Instagram takeover (July) to enable all questions answered with a panel of staff from various services including visa; explore opportunities for a Reddit Q&A; and commissioning more evergreen 'day in the life' content from international student ambassadors, with at least one including use of career services.

Chinese social media outreach

Working with China Office, review the current content of blog posts on Chinese social media (WeChat) to include issues specifically affecting Chinese students, for example, scams targeting Chinese students, specific banking support, and information on early career engagement and pathways (including support from International Careers specifically for China market).
