First to Second Year Transitions
A project seeking to understand and better support students transition from their first to their second year.

Our Project
We have undertaken a project focusing on first to second year undergraduate transitions- the different aspects that affect students' experience and how/where the University could provide increased support. The purpose of the project is to reduce incidences of students experiencing stress, isolation, hardship or other negative impacts that may result in decreased satisfaction with the University, disengagement from studies or withdrawal.

Our Students
This project will be designed with a student co-creation approach, where 10 students will work alongside the project lead to identify, define and prioritise the key issues that students face and work creatively to build proposals for solutions. The co-creators will work using a peer-to-peer model, and so will be responsible for running individual workshops, where students will be invited to share their experiences of moving from first to second year.

Our Workshops
These workshops will encompass 100 students, and be ran over a one month period in Term 2. They'll be 2 hour sessions, where students will be able to talk through their own experiences. The second half of the session will focus on what kind of solutions students would want to see, what kind of format, or if there was anything they found went well and how we might be able to share that with other students.
This project will run from October 2023-September 2024.
