Swim access:
The swim access control system allows customers to check in and gain access to the swimming facilities via an electronic access barrier using their smart device. This system allows us to:
- Manage pool capacity.
- Ensure fair access.
- Help continue to maintain a safe and enjoyable swimming environment for everyone.
27 April 2026 | Swim access launch date:
- You will need to book and pay for a general swim session.
- The current booking process for swim courses and lessons will remain as is.
- Use the Check-In tile on the app to access both the main barriers at reception and the swim access barrier.
You’ll need to book your general swim sessions either via the UoW Sport app (Make a Booking > Swim > Book a Swim), online or at reception. Sessions last 1 hour, and you can book up to two sessions per day.
Access to the pool is only available to:
- Customers with an eligible membership (Complete, Gym & Swim, Tennis+, Active Seniors, Off-Peak Swim, Swim, Junior Gym & Swim/ Swim, Learn to Swim/children and adults).
- A swim course booking.
- Valid pay as you go session.
Before you arrive:
- Download the UoW Sport app.
- Make sure your account details are up to date via My Account in the app.
Step 1: Connect to WiFi
Ensure 'auto-join' is enabled on your device
- ‘Warwick Guest’ (public).
- ‘Eduroam’ (students and staff).
Step 2: At the access barrier
- Tap your ID/membership card or scan your smart phone on the new access barrier.
- If using your smart device:

- Select the 'Check-in' tile.
- The barrier will open.
Booking is not required if you wish to use the sauna or steam room.
If you’d like to swim and use the sauna or steam room, simply book a general swim session (this is free if you have a Complete, Gym & Swim, Tennis+, Active Seniors, Off-Peak Swim or Swim membership or a valid pay-as-you-go booking).
The online swim timetable is no longer available, as customers can now check availability and book and pay for swim sessions directly via the app or onlineLink opens in a new window.
Our no-show policy applies to general swim sessions.
We understand that this is a new way to book and access swim sessions, and we’re here to help. Our reception and poolside teams will be available throughout the transition, or you can contact us at any time.
Smart Tiles:
A Smart Tile is a fast, contactless way to check in, or gain access, to secure locations. It allows you to unlock barriers and doors, or register your arrival, by scanning it with your mobile device.
This new technology will reduce the number of plastic membership cards issued, while providing customers with a more convenient way to gain access.
Smart Tiles have been installed across all our indoor and outdoor facility spaces at the Sports and Wellness Hub, Cryfield, Westwood Games Hall and the Tennis Centre.
Step 1: Connect to WiFi on arrival (ensure ‘auto-join’ is enabled on your device):
- ‘Warwick Guest’ (public).
- ‘Eduroam’ (students and staff).
Step 2: At the barrier/door:
- Open the UoW Sport app. Please ensure you are logged in!
- Select the ‘Check-in’ tile.
- Tap your phone on the Smart Tile or scan the QR code.
- The barrier / door will open.
Access is available to members with facility access included in their membership and pay-as-you-go customers who have booked online.
If you are a pay as you go customer without an online booking, please pay at reception (Sports and Wellness Hub / Tennis Centre) before entry is activated. Once paid, you will be able to access the Smart Tile at the barrier / gate.
If you don’t have a smart phone or device, you can still access the barriers / gates using your current ID / membership card (as long as your membership includes facility access as part of your membership or you are a pay as you customer and have booked your session online).
If you experience any access issues, check that you are connected to WiFi and logged into your account. If you continue to experience access issues, please speak to a member of our reception team who will be happy to help.
Rewards platform:
Integrated within the UoW Sport app, our new rewards platform offers customisable tiered incentives, such as exclusive discounts across major brands, to customers when they participate in physical activity.
Simply take part in any physical activity that is managed by Warwick Sport (e.g using our facilities as a member or pay as you go customer, attending a Rock Up & Play session), and you’ll be able to access exclusive discounts across major lifestyle, fitness, nutrition and sportswear brands such as Tesco, Fitbit, Hello Fresh, Nike, Puma and Garmin.
There are 3 tiers within the platform: Gold, Silver and Bronze.
To get started:
- Ensure you are logged in to your account.
- Click the 'Treat Yourself' tile in the UoW Sport app.
- Select the 3 horizontal bars (top left hand corner).
- Select 'manage devices'.
- Select Strava or Garmin.
Click on the ‘Treat Yourself’ tile at the bottom of the UoW Sport app homepage. Within each tier (Gold, Silver, Bronze), you’ll see how to qualify for rewards. Access to the rewards platform for new users will be granted within 24 - 48 hours of your first engagement with Warwick Sport. For example, membership purchase, activity booking, Active League registration etc.
Gold - Silver plus access to 15% more rewards. Available to:
- Monthly, Annual, 2-year and 3-year members (Complete, Tennis Plus).
- Activators (Active League, Rock Up & Play).
- Sports club executive/scholar.
Silver - Bronze plus access to 70% more rewards. Available to:
- Monthly, annual, 2-year and 3-year members (Gym & Swim, Learn to Swim, Bear Cubs, Climbing Squad, Junior Development Tennis 90 minutes, Junior Performance Tennis 90 minutes, Youth Fitness, Junior Gym & Swim, Junior Development Tennis 60 minutes, Climb, student and staff Tennis).
- Active League participant.

Bronze - access to 15% of rewards. Available to:
- 3 and 6 month members (Complete, Tennis Plus, Gym & Swim, Climb).

Bookings:
If you have a ‘Tennis +’ membership you can book a class up to 10 days in advance. If you have a ‘Gym and Swim’ or ‘Active Senior Off-Peak membership’ you can book a class up to 7-days in advance.
To book a class, download our app from either the App StoreLink opens in a new window or Google Play StoreLink opens in a new window. Visit the ‘Make a booking’ section, select ‘Instructor-led Class’, choose the session(s) you’d like to attend, then login to the app (if not already) to confirm your booking.
If you would rather not use the app, you can make your class booking on our website by visiting our Classes page, select Book an activityLink opens in a new window. Search for the class you would like to book in the ‘What are you looking to do’ box, select your preferred session and book. At this point, you will be asked to login if you already have an account with us.
App - Download the app from the App StoreLink opens in a new window or Google Play StoreLink opens in a new window (if not downloaded already), or open the app and visit the ‘Make a booking’ section, select ‘Rock Up and Play’ and choose the activity you’d like to book from the list. Here, you will be asked to login to your account if you have one, or create an account with us if not. You can book up to 3 days in advance. Rock Up and Play sessions are free for University of Warwick staff and students.
Website – To book a Rock Up and Play session via our website, take a look at the sessions available on our Rock Up and Play page, select ‘Book now’, search for the activity of interest in the ‘What are you looking to do’ section (enter ‘Rock up’ first to see the full selection of sessions available), then choose the session(s) you’d like to attend. You will then be asked to either confirm your booking.

If you have a 'Tennis +' membership you can book a tennis court up to 7 days in advance.
For all other membership types or if you are a pay as you go member, you can book a tennis court up to 7 days in advance. There will be a fee for these advance bookings.

Booking a student sports club session has never been easier! Sports club sessions are free to attend before 14 October, after which point you will need to purchase a Sports Club PassLink opens in a new window before you can book a sports club session. Once you are up and running with your Sports Club Pass, it’s super easy to book onto a session, simply:
- Download our ‘UoW Sport’ app from the App StoreLink opens in a new window or Google Play StoreLink opens in a new window
- You can then log in to the app to book your club session each week
- Click ‘Make a booking’
- Then use our ‘Student Sports Club’ tile to search for all sports club sessions taking place that week
- Select the session you are planning to attend
- Click the ‘Book’ button to confirm your space
Easy as that!
No-show Policy:
Our no-show policy applies to classes, badminton, squash, table tennis and tennis.
Members and casuals
- Please remember to check in to avoid a no-show or late cancellation charge. Simply scan the Smart Tile at the required check-in points below.
If you have booked:
- Classes: Scan the Main entrance + Studio Smart Tiles
- Studio Cycle: Scan the Main entrance + Gym Smart Tiles
- Badminton: Scan the Main entrance + Sports Arena Smart Tiles
- Squash: Scan the Squash court entrance Smart Tile

If you haven't booked:
- No problem! You can book your activity via the app or onlineLink opens in a new window or at the Sports and Wellness Hub/Tennis Centre reception, then check in as above.
If you've booked more than one activity in a day, you must check in for each activity using the Smart Tile to avoid a no-show charge (see ‘How do I avoid a no-show charge?’ section above).
The no-show policy applies to all members and pay as you go, whether you have a smart phone or access card.
If you do not have a smart phone, you'll be issued with an access card. Whether you’re a member or pay as you go, this card gives you access to all our facilities (according to your membership type/activity you have booked).
Members and Pay As You Go - If you can no longer attend your booked activity, please cancel your booking via the app or onlineLink opens in a new window or at the Sports and Wellness Hub/Tennis Centre reception at least 2 hours before the activity is due to start.
Members:
- If you do not attend your booked activity and do not cancel, a charge of £5 may be applied to your account.
- If you cancel less than 2 hours before the activity starts, a late cancellation charge of £3 may be applied to your account.
- While the charge is on your account, you will be unable to enter the main barrier gates, or book any activities until the charge has been paid.
Pay As You Go:
- If you cancel at least 2 hours before the activity starts, you will receive a full refund.
- If you cancel less than 2 hours before the activity starts, you will not receive a refund.
Members and Pay As You Go -
You can pay an outstanding charge either via the app (select ‘My Account’ tile), onlineLink opens in a new window or at the Sports and Wellness Hub/Tennis Centre reception.

As a Learn to Swim member, you receive up to 3 hours free parking in the Sports and Wellness Hub car park. Vehicles must be registered with reception on your first visit. Further details can be found in your welcome email.
Swimming progress for both children and adult swimmers can be tracked via our online swimming portal. The portal provides access to lesson feedback, progress updates and stage progression information. Login details and instructions are included in your welcome email.
We are committed to ensuring our class sizes are smaller than Swim England recommendations (Swim England recommend a maximum of 12:1).
Smaller group sizes support accelerated learning, enhanced water safety and increased swimmer confidence.
Our experienced Swim Co-ordinators are present at poolside during all lessons, providing support and mentoring to teaching staff. Our co-ordinators have extensive experience working with swimmers of all ages, including those with additional needs.
Learn to Swim lessons run 7 days a week. Our 12-lane, 25-metre pool enables a flexible timetable, allowing siblings enrolled on the Learn to Swim programme to attend lessons at the same time.
Climbing:
Everyone who visits the Climbing Centre must fill in a Climbing Registration FormLink opens in a new window and book a Climbing InductionLink opens in a new window (search ‘Climb Registration’ and select your preferred time > Select the day you would like to complete the registration > Select ‘Book Now’), even if you have climbed before.
Climbing Registrations are every two hours every day and bookable via the app or online.Link opens in a new window
Climbing Registrations include instruction for how to use bouldering walls and auto belays.
Top Rope Sign Offs can also be completed during your Climbing Registration if you are a competent climber.
Yes, anyone over the age of 5 can come climbing. However, all under 18s must be supervised by an adult unless they have completed an ‘Over 14s Junior Sign Off’.
An adult can supervise up to 2 children at the Centre as long as they have completed the Climbing Registration. The ratio is 1:2 (x1 18+ to x2 children) to visit the Climbing Centre, however the ratio is 1:1 when climbing. Children will need to alternate if there is only one adult present.
Whether you are climbing with your child or supervising, you need to complete the Climbing Under 18 Registration FormLink opens in a new window as the child’s parent or guardian.
Over 14 Junior Sign Offs permit anyone aged 14-18 to climb in the Centre without adult supervision. These sign offs are completed at the discretion of the staff and dependent on how much climbing experience the U18 has and their competence using all necessary equipment.
Climbing Registrations and climbing sessions can be booked via the websiteLink opens in a new window or app. You will need to log in or create a new Warwick Sport accountLink opens in a new window for yourself and anyone else you are booking for.
Using your own email address for a child’s account is not a problem. But you will need to set individual passwords for each account.
On arrival at the Climbing Centre, you should check in at the desk (walk through the double doors to the Climbing Centre on the ground floor, and the desk is on your right) to ensure that you are correctly booked on. If the staff are busy, please wait at the desk until someone has checked you in.
All essential equipment is provided at the Climbing Centre.
Climbing shoes and a harness are provided for free during Climbing Registrations but must be hired for all following sessions from the reception desk.
Equipment hire is not included in Climb memberships.
The Climbing Centre contains a range of bouldering, auto belays, top rope and lead climbing facilities suitable for all abilities.
We offer a range of birthday party packages, children's sessions, courses and holiday camps:
Discover climbing opportunities for childrenWe offer courses for top rope climbing, lead climbing and improving climbing technique.
We can provide group sessions for up to 16 people. These are applicable to both adults and children. For example, corporate team building or scout groups.
Climb memberships allow unlimited access to the Climbing Centre across all opening hours. These memberships are available to adults (including public, staff and students) and juniors.
Any junior members must be supervised by an adult or have completed an ‘Over 14 Junior Sign Off’.
There are also a number of student membership options available.
Equipment hire is not included with any climb memberships.
We route set every week, alternating between ropes and bouldering each week.

If you haven't booked:
- No problem! You can book your activity via the app or onlineLink opens in a new window or at the Sports and Wellness Hub/Tennis Centre reception, then check in as above.
If you've booked more than one activity in a day, you must check in for each activity using the Smart Tile to avoid a no-show charge (see ‘How do I avoid a no-show charge?’ section above).
The no-show policy applies to all members and pay as you go, whether you have a smart phone or access card.
If you do not have a smart phone, you'll be issued with an access card. Whether you’re a member or pay as you go, this card gives you access to all our facilities (according to your membership type/activity you have booked).
Members and Pay As You Go - If you can no longer attend your booked activity, please cancel your booking via the app or onlineLink opens in a new window or at the Sports and Wellness Hub/Tennis Centre reception at least 2 hours before the activity is due to start.
Members:
- If you do not attend your booked activity and do not cancel, a charge of £5 may be applied to your account.
- If you cancel less than 2 hours before the activity starts, a late cancellation charge of £3 may be applied to your account.
- While the charge is on your account, you will be unable to enter the main barrier gates, or book any activities until the charge has been paid.
Pay As You Go:
- If you cancel at least 2 hours before the activity starts, you will receive a full refund.
- If you cancel less than 2 hours before the activity starts, you will not receive a refund.

As a Learn to Swim member, you receive up to 3 hours free parking in the Sports and Wellness Hub car park. Vehicles must be registered with reception on your first visit. Further details can be found in your welcome email.
Swimming progress for both children and adult swimmers can be tracked via our online swimming portal. The portal provides access to lesson feedback, progress updates and stage progression information. Login details and instructions are included in your welcome email.
We are committed to ensuring our class sizes are smaller than Swim England recommendations (Swim England recommend a maximum of 12:1).
Smaller group sizes support accelerated learning, enhanced water safety and increased swimmer confidence.
Our experienced Swim Co-ordinators are present at poolside during all lessons, providing support and mentoring to teaching staff. Our co-ordinators have extensive experience working with swimmers of all ages, including those with additional needs.
Learn to Swim lessons run 7 days a week. Our 12-lane, 25-metre pool enables a flexible timetable, allowing siblings enrolled on the Learn to Swim programme to attend lessons at the same time.
Everyone who visits the Climbing Centre must fill in a Climbing Registration FormLink opens in a new window and book a Climbing InductionLink opens in a new window (search ‘Climb Registration’ and select your preferred time > Select the day you would like to complete the registration > Select ‘Book Now’), even if you have climbed before.
Climbing Registrations are every two hours every day and bookable via the app or online.Link opens in a new window
Climbing Registrations include instruction for how to use bouldering walls and auto belays.
Top Rope Sign Offs can also be completed during your Climbing Registration if you are a competent climber.
Yes, anyone over the age of 5 can come climbing. However, all under 18s must be supervised by an adult unless they have completed an ‘Over 14s Junior Sign Off’.
An adult can supervise up to 2 children at the Centre as long as they have completed the Climbing Registration. The ratio is 1:2 (x1 18+ to x2 children) to visit the Climbing Centre, however the ratio is 1:1 when climbing. Children will need to alternate if there is only one adult present.
Whether you are climbing with your child or supervising, you need to complete the Climbing Under 18 Registration FormLink opens in a new window as the child’s parent or guardian.
Over 14 Junior Sign Offs permit anyone aged 14-18 to climb in the Centre without adult supervision. These sign offs are completed at the discretion of the staff and dependent on how much climbing experience the U18 has and their competence using all necessary equipment.

Using your own email address for a child’s account is not a problem. But you will need to set individual passwords for each account.
On arrival at the Climbing Centre, you should check in at the desk (walk through the double doors to the Climbing Centre on the ground floor, and the desk is on your right) to ensure that you are correctly booked on. If the staff are busy, please wait at the desk until someone has checked you in.
All essential equipment is provided at the Climbing Centre.
Climbing shoes and a harness are provided for free during Climbing Registrations but must be hired for all following sessions from the reception desk.
Equipment hire is not included in Climb memberships.
The Climbing Centre contains a range of bouldering, auto belays, top rope and lead climbing facilities suitable for all abilities.
We offer a range of birthday party packages, children's sessions, courses and holiday camps:
Discover climbing opportunities for childrenWe offer courses for top rope climbing, lead climbing and improving climbing technique.
We can provide group sessions for up to 16 people. These are applicable to both adults and children. For example, corporate team building or scout groups.
Climb memberships allow unlimited access to the Climbing Centre across all opening hours. These memberships are available to adults (including public, staff and students) and juniors.
Any junior members must be supervised by an adult or have completed an ‘Over 14 Junior Sign Off’.
There are also a number of student membership options available.
Equipment hire is not included with any climb memberships.
We route set every week, alternating between ropes and bouldering each week.
