How we are championing sustainability

Energy efficient gym

Our refurbished gym now uses 1,100kWh less energy.

Solar power

The installation of 509 solar panels produces 207.9kW of energy.

Pool cover

2 new pool covers achieve energy savings of £500 per month.

Sustainable lighting

Following recent lighting upgrades at the Tennis Centre, the system is predicted to reduce lighting energy consumption by 80%, saving over 34 tonnes of CO₂ each year.

Reduced energy usage

The Sports and Wellness Hub energy usage has dropped 40%, Westwood Games Hall’s energy usage has reduced by 15tCO2e/year, and overall electricity usage is down 9%.

Our energy certificates

We’re working hard to improve energy efficiency across all our buildings, achieving the following Energy Performance Certificate ratings: Tennis Centre (A), the Sports and Wellness Hub (B), Cryfield Sports Pavilion (B) and Westwood Games Hall (C).

Sustainable travel

There are a range of alternative ways to travel to the Sports & Wellness Hub, including walking, cycling and e-scooters. We provide a bike shed and e-scooter charging port, with walking and running routes available across campus and around our facilities.
