How did you find out about Warwick?

I heard about Warwick from my sister who is one year older than me and was already at the University. She was really satisfied with her course (also being Accounting and Finance) due to its organised structure and interesting modules that are provided. I visited my sister at Warwick and I was really impressed with the campus. The modern buildings and the welcoming people on campus made my experience memorable.

Did you consider studying anywhere else? What are the main reasons you chose Warwick?

I was also considering to study at either Bath or Nottingham. I chose Warwick over other Universities because its Business School has been high on the rankings for many years has a good reputation. I felt that studying here for my undergraduate degree would be a way of enhancing my knowledge, skills and personality significantly. Another reason was because Warwick has its own campus. Socialising with students from different courses and making friends from diverse backgrounds is promoted too, which improves the University experience.

When you found out about Warwick, did you contact the University to find out more?

I contacted the Warwick Business School enquiries to find out more about the entry requirements.

Did you receive any help with your application form? Did you encounter any difficulties?

I applied through UCAS and the counsellor of my school guided me on how to prepare my personal statement. She added the qualifications that I had achieved until that time and my expected A level grades. The counsellor sent the application after I had corrected my personal statement a couple of times to make sure that it was appropriate and catchy, and she sent the application to the Universities I had applied to.

What is the best thing about Warwick?

I like the fact that it has a multitude of societies to join and the events they provide never fail to be entertaining and rewarding activities. I also enjoy the useful resources that the University offers. Such as career guide events, stress relief activities including petting puppies and seminars on how to be more organised and study more effectively.

What is the worst thing about Warwick?

Sometimes I need to rush from one building to another if I happen to have consecutive seminars and lectures, making the day extremely tiring especially when the weather conditions are bad.

What is/was your accommodation like?

My first-year accommodation was off-campus. I stayed with my sister and two of our friends in a house in Earlsdon, in Coventry. The area was really beautiful and calm since mainly families lived there and also it was really close to the campus which made it easy to be on time for my lessons even if I ever overslept. This year we are moving to Leamington Spa; as it is easier to hang out with friends.

Have you joined any societies?

I am a member of a few societies. I am part of the Accounting SocietyLink opens in a new windowLink opens in a new window. I have been to many of its events including all of its market discussion seminars which were really educational in terms of emerging economies, FOREX and other interesting topics. I am also a member of the Cypriot and Hellenic Society Link opens in a new windowLink opens in a new windowwhich organises many events during the year such as Greek nights and visits from the Big Four companies where we are presented about different career opportunities in Cyprus.

Have you travelled in the UK/Europe?

I have been to London many times because it is really close to the University. I need about an hour with the train to get to central London and the tickets are really reasonable since I am also using my railcard. I have also been to Birmingham as it is only 20 minutes with the train from Coventry and it is an extremely beautiful city making trips there fun.

What do you hope to do when you graduate?

I hope to do a qualification in actuarial science or something related to Mathematics such as a master in Mathematics. I may choose Warwick to study my Master's degree or maybe another University that is well known for its courses in Mathematics.

What one thing makes you happy about Warwick?

One thing that makes me happy about Warwick is that it is located centrally in the UK and so it is really convenient to travel around in other cities. I also like the fact that it is next to Birmingham which has an airport, therefore travelling from Cyprus to Warwick and vice versa is relatively cheap and quick.

If you were giving advice to someone considering studying at Warwick, what advice would you give them?

I would advise you to choose Warwick because it is a really organised and well established University. Any degree at Warwick is considered prestige by employers. Studying here would be a valuable step in your academic career.
