Breakthrough A2: Translating Words, Works and Worlds
This one-day AS/A-Level masterclass invites you to extend your understanding of translation by helping you to explore some of its different forms. Using lectures, group activities and guided workshops on textual manipulation and performance, this masterclass offers you an opportunity to work with different kinds of texts (i.e. short poems, slogans, advertisements and dramatic texts) to explore (1) what informs our translation decisions; (2) how we carry out translations and (3) how translations may help to create cultures. The material covered and questions discussed will be of value and interest to AS and A-Level students of Modern Foreign Languages, particularly those with an interest in pursuing a career in languages, international relations, cultural and creative industries and international business.
