THE THEATRE OF PHILOSOPHICAL DIALOGUE
The Philosophy Department would like to invite your school to join us for a special day of philosophy and theatre at the University of Warwick.

Pupils will watch Warwick students perform a dramatization of The Symposium, Plato’s classic dialogue about love.

They will discuss the relationship between drama and Philosophy with Dr Eileen John, and prepare and perform their own four minute philosophical dialogues, facilitated by Warwick Philosophy undergraduates.

Year Group: Yr.’s 11 & 12
Timings: 09:30 – 15:20
Lunch: provided – please advise of any specific requirements
Cost: this event is free to attend but schools will be expected to provide transport
Schedule for the Day
09:30 – 09:50 arrivals and registration
09:50 – 10:00: Pupils are welcomed
10:00 – 11:00: A dramatization of Plato’s Symposium is performed by Warwick students
11:00 – 11:10: Comfort break
11:10 – 12:00: Dr Eileen John gives an interactive talk on theatre and philosophy
12:00 – 13:00: Lunch is served
13:00 – 14:00: Pupils prepare four minute dialogues in groups of four
14:00 – 15:10: Pupils perform their plays, and receive feedback
15:10 – 15:20: Farewell
