Wednesday 14 February, 1:30-4:30pm, Ramphal. With Dr Anna Ploszajski

If you're a keen public engager who'd like to know how to make your presentations more impactful then this is the session for you. We've invited Anna Ploszajski, an award winning communicator, to join us for this multidisciplinary engagement masterclass on taking your presentations to the next level. We're especially encouraging those who are signed up to take part in the Resonate Festival of Science and Technology to come along to this session with their planned presentations in mind.

Podcasting for Engagement

Wednesday 6 March, 9:30am-4:30pm, Ramphal. With Dr Anna Ploszajski

Podcasting can be a powerful tool to engage with difficult-to-reach audiences, expand professional networks and become established as an authority in your field. In this session, you'll learn about the tools you need to create compelling podcasts about research, to engage with different audiences, and increase your overall impact.


Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in Public Engagement

Friday 15 March, 10:30am- 12:30pm, Ramphal. With Sarah Cosgriff

How can we be more inclusive when engaging our audiences and which audiences could we be unintentionally excluding? This session will explore these questions and take you through strategies to help you embed equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) into your public engagement practice.


Evaluating Engagement - Three part series

Part 1: Introduction to Evaluation Strategy, Methods and Practice

Wednesday 20 March, 12:15-1:45pm - Maths Building

This introductory session will introduce you to key ideas around evaluation practice, why we conduct evaluation, and how this can be beneficial to you. We will explore a model for thinking about public engagement activities strategically and set out what your individual measures of success are.

Part 2: Practical Evaluation Tools and Resources

Wednesday 24 April, 12:15-1:45pm - Ramphal

This more practical session builds on the introductory ideas of session one, providing you with the tools to conduct effective and meaningful evaluation of your public engagement activities. We will explore resources available and how they can be best used to assess your measures of success.

Part 3: Understanding and Presenting Data

Wednesday 29 May, 12:15-1:45pm - Ramphal

This final session will explore the types of data you can yield from evaluation methods, and how you can best analyse this. We will explore key data analysis tools and how to draw insights from this data in order to answer questions about the success of your public engagement activity.

The bulk of the learning for this course is done through a self directed online E-course. This can be completed in your own time, however registration for the course must be completed ASAP. You'll receive an email explaining how to access the course upon registration.

Part 2: E-Course Follow up Q&A Workshop

Tuesday 5 March, 12-1pm, Zoom

This follow up workshop is optional, but is your chance to ask questions about the content from the E-course, and also contains additional information which will compliment what you've learnt.
