R Foundations 2025 Sign-Up Form

A six-session (90 mins per session) introductory R course. We cover an Introduction to R and RStudio; Data types, structures, and data wrangling using the tidyverse; programming in R; simulation and optimisation; graphics (both base and ggplot2), and Quarto.

This course is primarily aimed at first year Statistics PhD students. It has been developed as a prerequisite for those attending the Academy for PhD Training in Statistics (APTS)Link opens in a new window to cover the R material that’s required for those modules, though it is open to all interested members of the university, space permitting.

The sessions are on the following times/days:

  • Thursdays and Fridays of Weeks 2, 4, 6 (October 16th, 17th, 30th, 31st, November 13th, 14th)
  • 12:30-14:00

All sessions take place in room A0.28 in Milburn House.

The form closes on October 12th 2025 and you will be notified if you have a place on October 13th at the latest. Note that all first year PhD students in the Statistics department are guaranteed a place.
