Madeleine Snowdon

Madeleine studies History of Art student and during the project she worked with the Digital Team. In particular, she channelled her artistic talent to work on the project’s branding and style, designing a striking colour scheme and a logo from the project (pictured). You might recognise these if you have been following our Instagram over the last few months!

Madeleine also produced artwork of the Arts Faculty’s new building, creating composite photos of the building site in progress and the existing Humanities building. One of these was ‘Commended’ in the 2020 Digital Arts Showcase. Madeleine’s inspiration for the photos was discovering archival photos of the university campus from the 1960s and 70s. Of her photos, Madeleine said:

while the images are often abstracted, glimpses of bunting from an old humanities corridor, construction workers, scaffolding, notice boards and more are all present and make their mark on each print. The contrast between finished and unfinished lived in and vacant space shows us how human it is to want to actively participate and engage with the buildings we inhabit.”
