Overview: An exploration of digital technology and museums. Begins with a review of the traditional and radical purposes of museums, and how museums are changing in complicated ways. We look an brilliant example of an exhibit created as a Twitter thread (Bayt al Fann). We consider a classic Digital Humanities project, an online interactive exhibition of data (Mapping Women's Suffrage, created in Omeka). We then look at how the social and physical dimensions of exhibitions are still important. This leads into an exploration of how we can integrate digital into physical exhibits, including the use of screens, iPads, and microcontrollers (Arduino, Raspberry Pi). Finally we look at augmented reality and virtual reality.
