'Medical Diasporas and Maple Leafs: the Migration of Physicians to Canada in the Post-WWII Era'

This paper explores the emigration of foreign-born and foreign-trained physicians, from such countries as India. South Africa, Britain and Australia, to Canada from 1960 to the present. The paper will investigate the extent to which wealthy nations have engaged in a deliberate patter of poaching/luring physicians from other countries as a quick, cheap and efficient way of filling holes in health care services.
