Disabled & Neurodiverse Networks

The Faculty’s Disabled and Neurodiverse student networks and Faculty Forum champion accessibility, inclusion, and representation for disabled and neurodivergent students. We aim to create a supportive space that recognises and celebrates all forms of disability and difference.

Disabled and Neurodiverse student networks currently exist within the Department of English and Comparative Literary Studies and the School of Modern Languages and Cultures. These independent networks organise their own activities and collaborate through a termly Disabled and Neurodiverse Student Networks Faculty Forum and joint-activities.

The Forum brings together these networks and students from across the Arts to build community, exchange ideas, and push for meaningful improvements. It’s focused on creating an environment where everyone feels recognised, respected, and able to thrive.

Student lead:

Tanzilla

Hi! I’m Tanziila, in my fourth and final year studying Modern languages (Hispanic studies and Japanese). I was an SSLC rep for Japanese in my second and third years, and have just returned from a year abroad split between Spain and Japan.

In the role of Student Lead, my key aim is to prioritise the wellbeing of my peers. As someone whose disabilities also pose challenges in my academic, personal, and student life, I want to bring understanding, empathy, and most importantly, to hear from fellow students about how to best accommodate everyone’s needs. Inclusion is extremely important to me; no one should feel set back, ostracised, or disadvantaged. Instead, everyone deserves to feel supported, confident, and make the most of their time as a student here at Warwick.

With the SMLC, I would be keen to explore reasonable adjustments, and give support based on any needs or concerns - from class settings and general student life, to assessments or the year abroad. There will also be inclusive events, and resources in the making.
