LGBTQUIA+ Networks
The Faculty's LGBTQUIA+ student networks aim to create a safe and supportive space for all members - whether you’re out or exploring your identity. Through collaboration between departmental networks and the wider faculty we ensure queer voices are heard in shaping your time at Warwick.
LGBTQUIA+ student networks currently exist within the Department of English and Comparative Literary Studies and the School of Modern Languages and Cultures. These independent networks organise their own activities and collaborate through a termly LGBTQUIA+ Student Networks Faculty Forum and joint-activities.
The Forum brings these networks and students from across the Faculty together to foster community, share perspectives, and advocate for meaningful progress. It’s dedicated to creating a space where all identities are celebrated, and everyone feels safe, supported, and able to be themselves.

Student leads:
Hi! I’m Brad, a 2nd year French Studies student from Kent, and I’m working to improve student life for LGBTQIA+ and Ally SMLC students. This is of utmost importance in our ever-diversifying community here at Warwick.
During sixth form I was deputy head student with the role of student well-being and mental health coordinator. In this position I mentored students to ensure their mental health did not interfere with their studies, and I hosted charity events to raise money to help children disabled by cancer and other diseases. Over the course of the year in the role and from my own personal experiences I learnt a lot about the everyday challenges students face as a result of their sexuality and the anxieties LGBTQIA+ students can have about things that others would not question.
I hope to draw on this knowledge to help me raise awareness and improve quality of life for these students in the SMLC - I am determined to continue my support in this second year of being a network lead. Thank you for reading this and keep an eye out for the events that we’ll be hosting!
Hi! I’m Elsa, a second-year French Studies student here at Warwick . As both a Black woman and an ally of the LGBTQIA+ community, I’m passionate about creating spaces where everyone feels celebrated for who they are.
For me, inclusion isn’t only representation, it’s also about connections, understanding, and joy. I believe that every student deserves to feel comfortable bringing their true self to campus life, and I want to help make that a reality. As someone who came from a school in South London which thrived on its diversity in both race and members of the LGBT community, I am looking to recreate that healthy environment from my past there to my future in Warwick via planned events. Through my role, I hope to launch more open conversations, uplift diverse voices, and make sure that inclusion is not just a box we tick, but something we genuinely live every day.
This year, I’d love to collaborate on events that blend creativity, culture, and community, such as discussion spaces, film nights, or social events celebrating different identities. My goal is to make inclusion visible, approachable, and even fun.
