Tom Hemingway and James MacDowell's video essay selected in Sight & Sound best-of list
A video essay by the department’s Tom Hemingway and James MacDowell was chosen by two contributors to Sight & Sound's best-of 2024 poll. Their video is about Bo Burnham's Netflix comedy special INSIDE, authenticity and YouTube aesthetics. The list also includes James' picks for best video essays of the year. The article shares strategies found to be effective by a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) for creating inclusive seminars, emphasising the importance of understanding diverse student needs, valuing feedback, and fostering a collaborative and supportive learning environment.

Set in Brighton, the 20-minute film presents the visual diary of a woman from Turkey, offering an intimate glimpse into her journey. It has been showcased at platforms, including the European International Film Festival, Los Angeles International Film Festival, Art Beats Festival, and Shortfilmwire+ Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Network.
