New book published: Jon Burrows, 'The British Cinema Boom, 1909-1914: A Commercial History'

Palgrave Macmillan have just published a new book by Jon Burrows: The British Cinema Boom, 1909-1914: A Commercial History. The book examines how the British cinema industry was created via an intensive capital investment boom in the space of a few short years before the outbreak of the First World War. It studies the backgrounds and commercial fortunes of people who sank money into Edwardian cinema businesses, and also considers the impact of the rapid expansion of the film exhibition sector upon film distribution and production in Britain during this formative period.
