About

I hold an MA for Research and a BA in Film and Television Studies (First Class) from the University of Warwick, with dissertations on the legacy of silent cinema in both Hong Kong action cinema and the Jackass film and television series. My previous independent research focused on the stardom of Jean-Calude Van Damme and Scott Adkins in direct-to-video (DTV) action films.

My current research centres on crises of masculinity in 21st century digital action cinema, with a particular focus on issues of post-continuity style. Broadly speaking, I am interested in American action cinema, Hong Kong action cinema of the 1970s - 1990s, silent cinema, and the digital image.

Current research

My thesis is entitled Masculinity and Post-Continuity Style in 21st Century Digital Action Cinema.

My research is supervised by Professor Catherine Constable and Dr James C. Taylor.
