Dr Lauren Bird joins the Liberal Arts Department!
Dr Lauren Bird joined the School for Cross-faculty Studies at the start of this month as a Senior Teaching Fellow in Liberal Arts.
“I’m really looking forward to starting my first term in Liberal Arts – no doubt, it will be a challenging term for all - but I think many interesting conversations and ideas will emerge. The whole School for Cross-faculty Studies has been very kind and welcoming and I’m keen to meet our new and returning students this autumn.”

Dr Stéphanie Panichelli-Batalla, Head of the School for Cross-faculty Studies, was recently interviewed by the Oral History Review about the role of laughter in oral history interviews. You can read the interview here. This interview is directly linked to Stéphanie's paper, "Laughter in Oral Histories of Displacement: 'One Goes on a Mission to Solve Their Problems'", published in the Oral History Review.
Both the interview and paper are based on a wider project started by Stéphanie in 2014, entitled “Life Stories of Cuban internationalist healthcare professionals”. The project aims to fill the gap in the existing literature on Cuban internationalist healthcare professionals, allowing the professionals themselves to "share their stories and help us gain a better understanding of what it meant for them to join these missions, how the work impacted their lives and those of their families, and the challenges they faced as Cuban internationalists."

Congratulations to our Liberal Arts Class of 2020!
Our Liberal Arts third- and fourth- year finalists were awarded their degrees on Wednesday 22 July 2020.
This has been a year like no other and unfortunately, we have not been able to celebrate our students' successes on campus in the usual way. However, we were keen to congratulate our students by holding a virtual graduation celebration that took place on Thursday 30 July 2020. During the celebration, our staff and students shared stories and anecdotes from over the years, and the following prizes were awarded:
- The Liberal Arts Achievement Prize: Lily Rose Fitzmaurice
- The Dissertation Prize: Hannah Davenport
- The Cathia Jenainati Prize: Ceara Webster
Congratulations Lily, Hannah, and Ceara - your hard work has not gone unnoticed and we enjoyed being able to share your brilliant achievements in this way.
We are incredibly proud of our Class of 2020 for all of their successes and for overcoming challenges throughout their time at Warwick. We hope to be able to congratulate our graduates on campus when it is safe to do so and give them the graduation ceremony that they very much deserve.
