Summary

To carry out group presentations via submitted video instead of in front of the class. This allows students who are more introverted to feel comfortable presenting their ideas at their own pace and time.

Theory

The main reason behind this practice is that one in four students are introverts, but the current presentation practice tends to cater only for those who are extraverts. While quiet, introverts are much more thoughtful and possess many skills that are valuable to many organisations. As a result, they should not be heavily judged based on how they present their ideas in front of other people in the classroom where they might perform worse than if they could record a video in private and submit it online.

Measurable Benefits

It allows introverted students an equal opportunity to present their ideas to other people without the fear of being judged.

How it Works

Students film themselves presenting ideas and then submit it via an uploaded video on YouTube or a video file via email.

Student Feedback

This quote was raised by a student about their experience with the curriculum at Warwick without prior knowledge of this pedagogy. However, it comprehensively highlights its importance in reshaping the learning environment.

  • "As a fairly anxious individual, I found it quite intimidating to present information to individuals you do not know. Sometimes I feel as though I cannot convey the information I have prepared because of my confidence talking infront of academics, which has an adverse effect on my grade."
