Dr Ricardo Aguilar-Gonzalez delivers invited lecture at Arizona State University
On 18th March 2025, former IAS Early Career Fellow Ricardo Aguilar-González was invited to deliver a lecture at the School of Arts at the Arizona State University (Tempe). His talk focused on the history of foods, drinks, and bodies in the colonisation of the Americas.
The event was a great success, drawing a diverse audience of scholars - including anthropologists, historians, and sociologists - as well as undergraduate and graduate students. Ricardo engaged attendees in a reflection on the lasting legacy of early Americas foodways.
The event also offered an opportunity to meet with the heads of Arizona State University's departments of History, Transborder Studies, and Human Evolution and Social Change, opening promising avenues for future collaboration.
