IAS Early Career Fellow Dr Hande Çayır contributed a review to the British Psychological Society’s Qualitative Methods in Psychology (QMiP).

The review offers a reflective account of ECQI 2025, illustrating how the conference foregrounded practices of hope, relationality, and collective knowledge-making through concrete examples such as the Sew What? collective stitching workshop, Edgar Rodriguez-Dorans’ performance Mi Amigo Giovanni’s Death, and the creation of a neurodivergent-affirming space for zine-making, while asking: How might we build a culture of agreement in research?

The latest issue of the QMiP BulletinLink opens in a new window is now available, featuring recent developments and research in qualitative psychology.

Contributions include work from:

  • Laura Oxley - ‘They almost seem to revel in their behaviour’: An interpretative phenomenological analysis of the experience of alternative provision teachers when teaching students with conduct problems and callous-unemotional traits
  • Sharuni Shanmugaranjan & Deborah Bailey-Rodriguez - The impact of Covid-19 lockdowns on social support networks and mental wellbeing in the United Kingdom: A qualitative exploration
  • Laura Jenkins, Eva Fragkiadaki & Madeleine Tremblett - View from the top: Developing collaborative communities of practice in conversational analysis
  • Elana Payne - Grounded Theory and me: Data chaos and lightbulb moments
  • Hande Çayır - ‘Hope in the dark’: Reflections from ECQI 2025
  • Doaa Morsy Abdel Kader - Book review: Researching and Writing Differently
