AAMAS 2027 - Information about Findings

Purpose and positioning

Inspired by the model adopted by the Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL), AAMAS 2027 introduces the Findings of AAMAS 2027 as an additional publication category associated with the conference.

The Findings is not a separate submission track. All papers are submitted through the same process for the main track of the conference and are first considered for selection for publication in Proceedings of AAMAS 2027 under CC-BY licence. Papers that are not selected will be automatically considered for publication in the Findings of AAMAS 2027 under CC-BY licence, unless the authors opt out of this option in the submission form. Papers selected for publication in the Proceedings and papers selected for publication in the Findings have the same length and follow the same submission format. They are peer-reviewed, archival, and fully citable scientific publications.

The purpose of the Findings is to provide a publication venue for papers that meet the standard for archival publication and make a clear scientific contribution, but that are not selected for publication in the Proceedings of AAMAS based on the overall assessment of their novelty, significance, scope, generality, validation, and expected impact.

Assessment principles

The type of contribution presented by a paper does not, by itself, determine whether the paper should be published in the Proceedings or the Findings.

For example, a negative result, theoretical observation, replication study, resource, dataset, benchmark, case study, or exploratory result may be selected for publication in the Proceedings when it provides a sufficiently strong, novel, significant, and convincingly supported contribution. In particular, a surprising exploratory finding or a strong negative result may have substantial scientific impact and should not be regarded as inherently more suitable for the Findings.

Conversely, papers using more conventional contribution types may be more suitable for the Findings when their overall contribution is scientifically sound and publishable but comparatively limited in scope, generality, strength of evidence, breadth of validation, or expected impact.

The distinction should therefore be based on the overall strength of the contribution, rather than on a predetermined classification of research outputs.

When publication in the Findings may be appropriate

A paper may be selected for publication in the Findings when:

• It is scientifically sound, clearly written, relevant to AAMAS, and adequately supported by evidence;

• Its claims are justified by the theoretical analysis, empirical evaluation, or other evidence presented;

• It makes a valuable and identifiable contribution that warrants archival publication; and

• It is not selected for publication in the Proceedings because its overall contribution is more limited in scope, generality, breadth of validation, or expected impact.
