Kerry Hazeldine

During my third year of my undergraduate physics degree at Aberystwyth University, having been introduced to materials physics, I choose to do a materials based project, which further solidified my love for this area. Having been recommended this course by another student, when I looked into the combination of the MSc course content, the PhD project, the industry partners and the additional opportunities of this course as well as the multi-disciplinary aspect, I quickly knew that Diamond Science is what I wanted to do.

The CDT has also allowed me to continue my passion for outreach work through the Outreach Committee of which I am the current chair.

PhD Title: Controlling Surface Properties of Diamond for Electronics and Quantum Technology
PhD Supervisor:
Prof. Andy Evans
Institution:
Aberystwyth University

During my project I will be looking at growing graphene on diamond and using characterisation techniques such as XPS, LEED, and Raman.
