I came to the DST CDT after studying a masters in chemistry from Cardiff University. I wanted to continue to do research after enjoying my final year project based on surface chemistry, and was told about this course by my supervisor. After meeting with my PhD supervisor I decided this CDT would be a great opportunity, as it provides an excellent teaching year to gain an understanding in material science before starting the 3 year PhD. So far I have gained valuable experience from both the teaching and practical aspects of the course, and met a bunch of great people. I would highly recommend this course to anyone interested.
