To all ES3B1 and ES327 Project Students
To all ES327 and ES3B1 third year project students.
There have been a number of complaints brought to the ESO regarding marks for ES327 and ES3B1 projects. Please can students note that they cannot appeal a mark given for a piece of work extract from the appeals pages on the Academic Office website;
“……………………..You may not use the appeal procedure simply to dispute the academic judgement of examiners and you may not appeal against marks awarded for individual modules or individual pieces of work (although you may raise any queries about marks with your department in the first instance if you wish).”
If you have a query with your mark then you should see your project supervisor who should be able to give guidance on the mark. The final mark awarded for the project is the moderated mark which has agreed between the project supervisor, second assessor and moderator immediately after the project VIVA/oral presentation. On the rare occasion where the three academics previously mentioned cannot agree on the final project mark a further academic is asked to mark the work and this mark is used in conjucntion with the original marks to come to a final mark for the project. Please note the ESO cannot give feedback on the marks awarded only the academics concerned.
Regards
Dr Dave Britnell

For emergencies or urgent safety concerns, please contact the University 24-hour Community Safety line: +44 (0)2476 522083. Community Safety operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
In the event of an emergency on campus requiring ambulance, police or fire brigade, call 22222 from an internal telephone.
