Network security update for students
Starting from 30 July 2025, the University is making a change to how student devices connect to the internet on campus. This is to help keep everyone safer online.
What’s changing?
When you connect to the University network, you must use the University’s network access settings or DNS. If your device is using other settings—like Google DNS or Cloudflare, it may not work or connect properly on campus.
- If your device is already set to get internet settings automatically (which most are), you don’t need to do anything.
-
If you’re using a university-managed laptop or computer, you're all set – no action is needed.
- But if you’ve changed your settings to use a custom DNS (like Google or Cloudflare), you’ll need to switch back to automatic settings, and you can do this by following the instructions linked below.
https://warwick.ac.uk/services/idg/news/students/network_security_update_dns_restrictions
- If you don’t update your settings to automatic, you won't be able to use some university services such as:
- Internet access
- Log into the online library
- Print on campus
- Use some University software

Departmental module fairs 2025
The Language Centre module fair in term 2 will take place in the FAB building on Wednesday 5 March, 14:00-17:00.
Language Centre Module Fairs
This year, SMLC are holding a Language Centre module fair in term 2, which coincides with Eutopia Language Week and one in early term 3 (exact details for this one TBC).
As well as a chance for students to talk to staff about their options with the Language Centre, they will also be able to sign up for taster sessions (at complete beginners’ level) in a variety of languages. By doing so, students will be able to make informed decisions on what will suit them in their degrees and try out a new language.

Module Registration Changes
Please note that the deadline for module registration changes in term 2 is the end of week 17 (Friday 23 January 2015). This is the final deadline for adding new modules.
Students will be still be permitted to deregister from a module providing they have not submitted assignments worth 10% or more of the credit for that module by the end of the spring term for modules with April examinations (Friday 13 March 2015) and by the end of week 30 (Friday 24 April 2015) for modules with June examinations.
Transfer between BEng and MEng
Second year students wishing to transfer from a four year (MEng) degree to a three year (BEng/BSc) degree in order to apply for accommodation in their final year should apply to transfer by the end of week 7 at the latest. These transfers will then be processed by the School of Engineering during week 8.
First and second year transfers from a three year (BEng/BSc) degree to a four year (MEng) degree will normally be processed at the end of the academic year based on academic performance and as part of the course and module registration process, however if students have specific issues in relation to applying for internships then earlier requests for transfer will be considered.
Please use the form to request a transfer.
