Basic Turning and Milling Workshop Courses
Turning and Milling
Turning and milling and two of the most important machining processes in engineering.
Join us in term one for our series of special afternoon workshop sessions where you will learn the basics or turning or milling with our friendly team of experts! Each course will run on one afternoon over five weeks as follows...

Turning on a lathe

A lathe is a machine tool used principally for shaping pieces of metal, wood, or other materials by causing the workpiece to be held and rotated by the lathe while a tool bit is advanced into the work causing the cutting action.

Milling
Milling is performed with a milling cutter in various forms, held in a collet or similar which, in turn, is held in the spindle of a milling machine.
