Grant success: EPSRC New Investigator Award
Dr Michael Faulkner in the Predictive Modelling Research Cluster at the School of Engineering has recently been awarded a EPSRC New Investigator Award. The £475,000 grant will allow Dr. Faulkner to develop a novel simulation technique to capture rare events in condensed-matter physics.
The main long-term aim is to tackle the problem in proteins, where the technique will accelerate rare transitions between the different ways the protein can fold - to better understand how and why proteins function correctly in biological cells.
