Intelligent systems Lab

This research lab is led by Professor Evor Hines.

Possible research topics include:

  • Telecommunications - for example, multiple access channel receivers
  • Medical systems, such as imaging & sensors
  • Non-destructive imaging/testing via ultrasonics
  • Target detection/tracking (photogrammetrics, water pollutants, PIV etc.)
  • Control - helicopters/robots,
  • Electronic nose data processing: for example fruit ripeness, medical applications (e.g. bacteria), plastics, alcohol, foodstuffs, water,
  • Data processing for remote sensing

Examples of on-going collaborative research include:

  • Sensors, including Electronic Nose with Prof. J. W. Gardner (SRL)
  • Non-destructive testing with Prof. D. A. Hutchins
  • Fluid Flow Visualisation, PIV, etc with Prof. P. Bryanston-Cross (OEL)
  • Civil Engineering with Prof. D. Anderson
  • Applied electromagnetics with Dr C. Mias
  • Antenna design with Prof R. J. Green
