Sustainable Thermal Energy Technology
Efficient and sustainable energy development is an ever-present need in the modern world. Our researchers work on a diverse variety of topics such as; adsorption refrigeration; heat pumps; air conditioning; thermal energy storage; and solar energy. The group works with organisations such as The British Antarctic Society, CK Solar and Eon.
EPSRC have funded an Interdisciplinary Centre for Storage, Transformation and Upgrading of Thermal Energy (i-STUTE), with an award of over £5M for 5 years, creating PhD and postdoctoral opportunities.
Staff are involved in the Birmingham Science City Research Alliance and in delivering the thermal energy technology part of the Science City Energy Efficiency Project. Our facilities include refurbished laboratory space with some of the latest analytical and test equipment.
