Mr Pedro Checa Rifa, intern at the ABSPIE Lab under the supervision of Dr Davide Piaggio, was shortlisted and awarded a scholarship via the URSS scheme, which funds excellent Undergraduate candidates to move the first steps in the world of academic research via summer internships. The calibre of applications was extremely high this year, and URSS received a 36% increase in applications making the process very competitive. His project will deal with the design of medical devices following frugal engineering and sustainability approaches.
